But I am seriously concerned that online harms facing women and girls \u2013 especially those of colour, from LGBTQ+ communities and other marginalised groups \u2013 threaten that progress.\u201d<\/em> <\/p>\n<p>Berners-Lee makes this warning just a year after launching the <em>Contract for the Web<\/em>, an action plan to prevent the world from turning into a &#8220;digital dystopia.&#8221;\u00a0 <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/z96x.mjt.lu\/tplimg\/z96x\/b\/xg6i4\/vi2v7.jpeg\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<p>Remember when <strong>Amazon <\/strong>started testing<br \/>\nits <strong>cashierless technology<\/strong> in Seattle?<\/p>\n<p>If you<br \/>\ndon&#8217;t, don&#8217;t worry. It&#8217;s easy to get the gist &#8212; \u00a0You walk into the store,<br \/>\ngrab whatever you need, put it in the bag and simply walk out. The tech takes<br \/>\ncare of all the rest.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While we all thought the move spelt doom for other retailers, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2020\/03\/09\/amazon-is-now-selling-its-cashierless-store-technology-to-other-retailers\/\" target=\"_blank\">as of this week<\/a>, the company is selling the solution to competitors.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>Interesting strategy for market penetration.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/z96x.mjt.lu\/tplimg\/z96x\/b\/xg6i4\/vi2gp.png\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<p>Finally, the <strong>UK <\/strong>will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2020\/mar\/11\/uk-to-impose-digital-sales-tax-despite-risk-of-souring-us-trade-talks\" target=\"_blank\">rolling out<\/a> in April<br \/>\n<strong>a new digital services tax <\/strong>aimed at US tech giants.<\/p>\n<p>The measure will impose a 2% levy on British revenues of search engines, social media services and online marketplaces.
