More on contact tracing<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This week we got more details on the upcoming
\ncontact tracing technology that Apple and Google are developing to help fight
\nthe spread of COVID-19.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Addressing what has been one of the most
\ncontentious points of debate, the duo said their app will not permit the use
\nof location tracking<\/a>. The full system, which is expected to be
\nreleased mid-May, will rely instead on Bluetooth to safeguard user
\nprivacy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the UK\u2019s National Health System, started testing an app<\/a> that uses a similar approach.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

The solution leverages (the ironically named) Bluetooth Low Energy handshakes<\/em> to tell whether a person might have been in contact or not with an infected individual. <\/p>\n
